Attendance management
Shift scheduling and team rotations: a practical method
Fixed, flexible, split and night shifts, three-shift rotations, minimum staffing and weekly rest: building a schedule that keeps attendance figures right.
Retail and shops
A shop is often open longer than a working day: you need morning and evening teams, weekend reinforcements, sometimes several shops. Tempo attaches each employee to a site and a department and calculates their hours against their shift.

With morning and evening shifts and a minimum staffing for each, the planner immediately shows an opening slot that is not covered. Copying a week reproduces a schedule that works onto the following weeks.
Employees are attached to a site; the register and reports filter by site. Tempo reads terminals over the local network: a terminal installed in another shop must be reachable from the PC where Tempo is installed (a company network between the sites). We look at this before quoting.
Without such a link, punches from a remote shop can be imported from a file.
One workstation
Tempo 1.0 runs on one PC: there is no simultaneous access to the same database from each shop.
A flexible shift or specific times in a planner cell cover part-time staff and reinforcements; planned and worked hours appear in each person’s timesheet.
A supervisor role can be limited to a department. Access is on the PC where Tempo is installed; there is no remote access in version 1.0.

Choosing and equipping
The questions to ask before choosing time and attendance software: real schedule calculation, terminals, data location, languages and total cost.
